I have a Kenwood Receiver which does not seem to respond to my remote anymore. After the receiver warms up (if it's on all day) the remote will sometimes work. It works at all other times with my other components and when you shake it around, it sounds like something is lose inside, although it might just be a solder that broke off.
Anyway, for ultimate couch-top convenience, I need another remote, but the tricky part is finding one that ahs the functions of my receiver. Specifically, I need a remote that will allow me to change the listen mode (from 3 stereo to stereo to arena etc). Anyone know of a remote I could use, preferably one that doesn't cost more than the receiver?

My son has a Kenwood VR-506 in an IR-free environment where the remote works sometimes. We have both looked at when it works and doesn't, and see no pattern at all. Any hints?

I've found that mine works only after the receiver have been on for quite some time (several hours), but even that span seems to change without reason.

Does the 506 use the same remote as the 300 series?..If so I have an extra and it is backlit.

I have a spare Kenwood remote RC-R0905 This was from a dated Kenwood flagship avr. The remote is as new and is programmable via the telephone with new codes. If it looks like you have a need drop me an email we can work something out. -Jerry

Sounds like the oem remotes are RF, and are picking up RF interference. On some RF receivers the IR sensor is disabled, until you remove the RF antennae.

I have a Kenwood VR-207 receiver that was pretty much given to me. The remote is WHACKO and I can NOT find the manual online ANYWHERE!!!
My remote only works if the receiver has been off for a few hours after which I can only use the remote for about 3 or 4 button clicks worth and then it stops working. Is Kenwood just challenged in this area or what??? Maybe they were just NEW to remotes in 1998 (or so) **sarcasm off**...

Exact same problem with my Kenwood VR-507 and it is driving me crazy! It is not the remote! it has to be something with the unit.
The unit fails to respond to its own native remote as well as my tivo remote.
The problem is intermittent but getting more and more frequent. Either the unit is defective or there is interference from one the many wireless devices in my home:
- router - baby monitor - video game controller - phones
This is the only mention I could find of this problem via google. I hope we can keep it going until someone figures it out!!

I have the same problem with my Kenwood Receiver with the included RC-R0913 RF remote. Sometimes the remote works, most of the time it does not. I agree with Steppenwolf88, when the unit is warm, it performs more often. I am not sure if its the remote or the receiver. However, its ticked me off enough that I need to get to the bottom of this. I will see if I can get a new remote tonight and try it out.
Regardless, I will never consider a Kenwood again.

I have a kenwood kr-v6010 that I am taking out of retirement for a little while. I have misplaced the remote long ago. I would like to purchase a universal remote to configure and use with this receiver. Does anyone have any idea what the codes are for this receiver and if I can manually add them to a universal remote?
Thanks!

Hi to all!! I have a Kenwood AV-4900 receiver with the RC-R1110 remote.
I never used the radio option as the readio in the receiver stopprd working a day after I got the unit, and I could not send it back for repair.
Lately my remote went dead on me. I went ahead and bought the SONY RM-AV3100.
I got the Sony and was disappointed to find that I cant realy configure it from the preset options, and need to use my old remote for learning.
I managed to use my NEVO inside my iPAQ 3950 to find most of the functions, but a few critical ones are missing...
So here I am, with a non functioning RC-R1110, a useless SONY 3100 and no remote ...
Any ideas/suggestions please? anybody have a RC-R1110 and a NEVO system that can copy and mail me the commands?
Thanks

I bought the VR-509 specifically because it had RF support (and an IR repeater system for the rest of my cabinet). It came with the RC-R0913 remote. Even when it worked, it was probably the most idiotic remote I'd ever used. When in movie mode, you didn't use the Volume button for the TV volume... no, you had to use the FFWD and RWND buttons. I can't tell you how many times I went to turn up the volume on the TV and inadvertantly skipped to the next track on the DVD.
But that's neither here nor there. Fact is, the remote went completely dead about 3 months after I bought the receiver. This is after I installed the receiver into my component wall and bought/installed the IR repeaters to all my other components. The LCD is dead, the backlight comes on, but nothing displays, and pushing the buttons does nothing. Yes, I've replaced the batteries several times.
So I'm left with an entertainment center all wired for RF... and no RF remote. I wrote to Kenwood and they told me that there weren't any after-market RF remotes that would work (if anyone knows this to be true or not, please let me know!).
I *can* tell you that I'm currently using a pretty standard multi-function IR remote. And the receiver fails to respond I'd say 70% of the time. I haven't seen much correlation between how long it's been on, heat, nothing. So it's definitely (at least in my mind) not the remote that's giving the rest of you fits. It's the receiver itself.
