Dude with a $700 remote control, read this:
---------------------------------------------------
When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they discovered that ball-point pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat this problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 million developing a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside down, underwater, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to over 300C.

When confronted with the same problem, the Russians used a pencil.
---------------------------------------------------
I hope you got my point ?

Oooh, that looks sooo sexy.

I did intend to buy the 7 remote organiser but I found it cheaper to dismantle part of my house by pulling a piece of baseboard from my wall. I then cut it to a nifty 12" length, attached velcro and, voila, it holds all my inexpensive remotes. And, to top it all I have my Pronto nestled neatly in the middle. This way if the batteries run out on Remote A, for example , I have the fully rechargeable Pronto for that component. Once all the batteries run out, I simply detach the Pronto and recharge it, throwing all those inexpensive remotes, and their dead batteries in the garbage. Yes, my invention is a wonderful thing, the Remote Underused, Balancing Baseboard Invention, Surefire Hiit. Or RUBBISH, for short.

See how much trouble you had to go through to replicate the www.control-panel.us organizer ? Destroyed your house, bought Velcro tape, got the ruller, nife, and other stuff all to just safe $20 ?
Dude, somebody stop you ! Plus, I don't know about you but I change batteries in my remote controls once every 2-3 years, unless ofcource I had to spend 24/7 on my couch pushing the buttons on the remotes looking for something interesting on TV to fill my boring life (sounds familiar?)

I just use the broom stick. I stretch out my arm and push the buttons on the TV.

just got a great idea, you get the three remote version and stick the other three remotes on the other side :-)

mdover: most of us go with universal remotes for more then just to eliminate remotes (hell, some of us have more universals then OEM remotes)

but if you guys want to laugh some more

This type of hi-tech “Universal” remote controls also has problems:

1. It can be easily lost just like any other remote control

2. Takes a long time to program all your remotes into one

3. Could be pretty expensive, in particular the ones with LCDs

4. Easy to damage especially if it is dropped on the floor

5. Not simple to use when switching between different devices

6. Software imbedded into the remotes could crash any time

7. Simply cannot replace all the features of the original remotes

and here is the pic associated with those comments

Yeah, I did notice that Anthony. Made me chuckle, it did. Seriously though, if you look close enough at the enlarged pic of the 7 remote version, it really is just 7 remotes resting on left over baseboard.

can't tell if it is baseboard, but probably is something from the hardware store. I guess that is what makes the statement "patent-pending design" on the home page even more funny.

P.S. (funny how there are no picks of her using any of the remotes on either edge with one hand)

I imagine this would be much more appealing and interesting if ANY woman would actually like holding a giant string of 7 remotes.

Or if they could spell "lose" correctly. Either on the Yahoo store or here in the posts.

I never loose them, I don't have to
program anything, and best of all I don't have
to spend 3*115=$345 to gain the same functionality
as you did with your mx-500s.

Funny, why would someone need 3 of the MX-500? One works pretty well for me.

Now you're just starting to be funny. :-)

No, seriously. Mocking the people you are trying to make into customers is a REALLY good idea.

FWIW, all my OEM remotes are safely stored without batteries in a cupboard in the immediate area of my HT system. The ONE MX-500 (which easily handles every single function of every single remote related to my large stack of equipment) sits on the coffee table and is never lost. Also, since the OEM remotes DIDN'T have all the buttons I needed, I borrowed another universal with advanced codes from another part of the house and taught the MX-500 the codes that I needed. Like Discrete Power Off, Eject for my VCR, etc.

(psst, a secret reason for using universal remotes: my kids broke my cheap universal; I haven't replaced it yet, so the MX-500 now covers 2 rooms worth of equipment although that's pushing a bit on its capabilities; I'll soon buy another $30 OFA to replace that busted one which now probably tastes like cranberry juice, just imagine if I had to replace all the $50-120 OEM remotes)

This whole thread is nothing short of hillarious. Here
we have an enterprising young lad trying to sell us
what he perceieves to be a better mouse trap. Why buy
a Mousetrap when you can have a mountain lion on duty.

Sorry but I just can't see having a TV remote a DVD
remote a Reciever remote and a X-10 remote glued to a
slab of plastic when for a paultry $700.00 you can
have a Pronto Pro, or for substantially less you can
have a HTM that will do the same thing, plus have one
touch Macro's so the woman of the house won't have to
remeber to turn the TV on, switch to input one, turn
the DVD on hit play, turn the Reciever on, switch to
input, turn up volume and select appropriate audio
decoding and then dim the lights..

Why do all that when you can hit "Watch a DVD" and
have the remote do everything from closing the blinds
to dimming the lights? Can the Plastic-Wonder do all
that for 50 bucks? LOL!

You know, if I was going to WASTE 50 dollars I would
run out and buy the new Kameleon remote from One4All
for $60.00 and have a great remote that will do just
about everything you could need on a moderate sized
entertainment rig..

You could laugh all you want, but how many times you came to somebodies house and saw 3-4-5 remotes lying on their table ? What do you think these people are not aware about a zillion "universal remotes" available in the stores ? Or maybe they are all just stupid ? Or maybe there is a bigger problem ?

By the way what is the difference between all this Universal Remotes ? Is one more universal then the other ? Or maybe they are not universal at all ?
LOL

I was in someones house who had his remotes tied to a wooden board so he could pick them all up at once. I couldn't believe it.

Hey, better then reaching out for just one and finding out that it's the wrong one! Or better yet, reaching out for a Universal Remote and finding out that one of the buttons is no longer programmed correctly.

My frind has a receiver remote that's about 5"wide - 3/4" thick, and 14"long.

He's really attached to it because everyone thinks it's funny. (It's a POS remote)

When it finally ceases to work he can make a little end table out of it to put his new remote on. and maybe a drink and a lamp.
Jet Rack ... It's what's for breakfast

Honestly when I go to a friends house and see they are
juggling 5 remotes I usualy talk them into buying a
good programable remote and then I go over, sit down
and program everything for them and then they are good
to go... So far I sold one friend on a Sony RAV touch
screen and another friend on a Phillips Pronto (I
tried to get him into a Pronto Pro but he just did not
want to part with that much cash.)

They both have wives and neither of thier wives would
agree that sticking 5 remotes to a piece of plastic is
a viable solution. They want an all in one solution
that really works. And there are numerous programable
remotes that fit the bill.. The Home Theater Masters,
The Pronto's the Harmony, The All4One Kameleon, Director
etc..

I don't understand why you keep reffering to buttons
that loose thier programming????? What defective
remote does this? I have never had a remote loose it's
memory. I have owned a Sima SUR-20 and now the Pronto
Pro and neither ever had this problem nor has my buds
Sony RAV remote either.

Hey Brett, how 'bout throwing it there that you own a Pronto Pro 5 or 6 more times.
