Hello all,
I just installed an IR repeater system on my HT. Everything works great except for the Ultimate TV. Has anyone ever seen this problem? I have tried several remotes including a Pronto and still no luck. The IR flashback flash a couple of times then quits when I'm sending a signal. All other components work great.

I bought the stuff from Smarthome.com and got the:

Buffalo IR-100 connecting block
Duel emitters
Stealth IR receiver

I had the same problem with my Powermid IR repeater. Is there something special with RCA Sat receivers?

I can't say anything about your new
system you bought. But writing this
from my wireless keyboard pointed at
powermid in the bedroom. And the receiver is the livingroom with a
repeater is pointed at my ultimatetv.
I have never had any problems. I've
posted over 47 posts on this forum
and always from the bedroom. So if you
have had problems with two systems,
it sounds like interference. the utv
can't tell the difference between
your remote and a repeater.

I would agree with the repeater part, however, the system works normally with the remote control pointed directly to it, but no go with multiple types of repeaters.

YOU are pointing the repeater at just
right of the door. As you look at the
receiver. Thats where the remote eye
is. Left of the door is the message
light and myshows light. If you are
doing it right, than I don't no what
to tell you.

Which remote? You don't say whether you've tried teaching and pointing one of your OTHER remotes directly at the RCA Sat receiver. If that works it would eliminate any possible problems in that area, and point the finger fairly confidently to a defect in your repeating system.

After that you might check the placement and/or functionality of your emitter if you're only having problems with one component, and only when you are using the repeating system.

Even though your emitter is new there could be a defect. As much as I hate to suggest this you might try swapping the "bugs" on your dual emitter between the two components. (The adhesive is not much good after one stick - but I'd be willing to venture that heat inside closed cabinets is what causes the adhesive to fail.)

Lastly, I've not tried this but I have read a lot about emitter bugs falling off - I've got to wonder if high quality double stick clear tape would save one after some careful cleaning.

Good luck and give some feedback on your troubleshooting.

nutsf15 I'm sorry I was cheating, I
am not using the original repeater that
came with the powermid. I believe its
from my philips dtivo. Did you try other repeater cords from other sources. Like the one that came with
the utv?

I got this message from the Custom Installers.

Yep, they operate with a 57khz carrier frequency for IR.

Sounds like the repeater is having a difficult time passing the carrier frequency. (CFL friendly or repeaters made to work well in sunlight, won't pass RCA carrier frequencies)

Try a NON CFL friendly repeater from Xantech. They work for us with no problem using RCA satellite receivers.

I called Smarthome and their tech said the same thing. I'm swapping out the receiver.

I hope it works, the RCA UTV is one of
the best receivers out there.
