Hello every body! (don't worry I'm not dr. nick!!)
I would like to know if anybody has experienced something with there amps.

This problem is VERY intermitant when switching video sources I can get a very fuzzy, tizzing effect on the picture, this can happen on any source selected and to get rid of it I only have to change the source and back again then it's gone.

now, the weired thing is, this exactly the same thing happened on my last amp (sony str-940) and is now happening on my new denon avr-3801, so the amp being faulty is out of the picture.

because it is random on all video sources and can be fixed just by changing channels I'm at a bit of a loss with it.

I would be interested if any one else has experienced this,

Ta

My guess is a tuner problem.

Tuner?

The tuner is in the amp and this has happend on two seperate amps so i'm not sure what you mean. Wouldn't the fact the same thing has happend to both mean the problem lies with something else?

Sounds to me like perhaps your display device is having a problem with the video changes, although I've never seen this myself. Perhaps trying a higher quality cable to your monitor my improve performance.

I see your point but I am running an Ixos cable and have swapped it with a custom made cable oxygen free copper and gold connects on both with no change.

So your running PAL then I imagine. I wonder if it's these NTSC 'model' receivers your using having trouble with your PAL signals on the switch. Dosen't 'lock on' to your higher scan rate immediatly?

Never worked with european gear before, don't know if this makes sense.

Sorry, i meant the TV tuner. I was tired. "Monitor" would have been a better choice.

But i am running sky through it as well and the computer card, they are both outputting pal infact the only thing that outputs ntsc is the region one discs i have.

Even if the amp was bought in the UK, does that mean they run ntsc, because i thought they only sent out to the monitor what signal they were given ie: pal in pal out.

I'm sorry if i sound ignorant, but i'm self taught in this area, i only know what i've read in books, mags and this site etc.

Yeah, I don't know. I'm not sure, the models you listed are available here also, not sure if they alter the circuitry for PAL or NTSC. I was thinking that just maybe the amps are NTSC and can't 'lock on' to the PAL signal until they get a 'refresh'. Really just trying for ideas. I have not worked with PAL signals very much at all.
