I want to subscribe to just one general home theater type magazine to stay current with all aspects of TV's, DVD's, home theater equipment, etc. Any recommendations?

I go there and to forums like this one to stay up-to-date. By the time Sound & Vision gets new info published, it's already been rehashed a billion times on the web.

I actually like to see the ads for HT equipment in magazines and was just wondering what people thought was the best magazine to subscribe to if you only did one. (greve: US) -Ken

It depends on what your looking for. Home Theater is hands down the best I've read. Not super Hi-End, not overly commercial, helpful articles (not to technical or to juvenille). Best of all this aprox. 120 page, full color mag can be had for about $12.00 a year.

The ONLY mag worth reading in my humble opinion is WSR. (WideScreen Review) www.WideScreenReview.com

These are not my words but I concur.

Magazines like The Perfect Vision and Widescreen Review tend to have a lot of technical content. While they tend to showcase higher-end equipment, they are considered fairly repuitable.

One of my current favorites is Stereophile Guide to Home Theater. They do a nice mix of high end equipment, regular stuff, and they have regular articles on dedicated home theater rooms, and PC-based theaters.

Sound and Vision has ... gone a bit downhill lateley. I just read the recent issue and I cannot remember anything interesting. Just a lot of whining about HDTV rollout (that everyone has been doing for 2 years). But it's not a bad magazine and may be just right for "getting into" the hobby.

Audio Video Interiors - This is the "Home and Garden" magazine where looks are more important than performance. But many of us sneak a copy every few months to drool over the high-end, dedicated HT rooms they display. It's worth picking up a copy or two.

I get WSR from my boss. He has a subscription and gives the to me afterwards. I live in the UK so the best home grown mag is Home Cinema Choice. [HomeCinemaChoice.com] WSR is very techi, I like that and I believe the reviews to be honest.

Caviar: SGHT is the hot tip for the lowdown on the high-end, and they do reach downwards to the "people's equipment" once in a while.
Steak: Jawhn's right on target about Home Theater.
Garnish: Audio Video Interiors = Martha Stewart guide to how audio/video can co-exist with women of discerning taste in interior decorating.

I have subscribed to Home Theater mag for several years. I have also at one point subscribed to sound and vision (not anymore).
I have always liked the writing in Home theater, they have gone down slightly in my opinion since Brent Butterworth ??, was the editor. Everyting seemed a lot more fun to read back then. They occasionally go a little too high end in my opinion.
