OK, I've just bought the 65" mitsubishi widescreen, a very fancy denon receiver, a toshiba hdtv directv receiver, directv satellite, toshiba progressive scan DVD, and a bunch of polk speakers all in built in cabinets. i love it. problem is, the wife made me put all components behind a cabinet and the remotes wont work. the tv guy told me there is some fancy infrared remote that has a little deal that hooks onto the corner of the tv with a remote that you point to that little and runs everything--which allows me to keep the component cabinet closed. what do you recommend? thanks

Choices 1) IR extender, they come in RF and wired form. The way they work is a two part system an IR receiver will be put where you usually point the remote and the transmitter in the cabinet.
2) An IR/RF remote, they work the same way as the RF extender systems, but they don't need an IR receiver. I don't know the lower end systems, but in the Pronto family there are the Onkyo Chad, Marantz RC5200, 9200, Pronto Pro. There is also the T2 from RTI and the Dennon Aktis (but I have not heard of anyone that uses it.

Get a Niles or Xantech IR connecting Block with a small IR receiver and IR flashers on each component. Check out Worthington Distributors www.worthdist.com
