I would like to have all my components hidden away in a closet (with good air circulation of course) and have just one IR "receiver" box (I don't know the technical term) and one remote that can talk to all the devices I have hidden away. Is this possible? If so, who makes this type of solution and what might it cost?
Thanks for your help!!

Steve,
It's possible. Search this forum for "extender" and you'll find several threads with sources and prices. Enjoy.

There are also some remotes that send RF to a base that then sends an IR command. They work like the wireless extenders, but you don't need to point ton a IR receiver. For example in the Pronto family there are the Pronto Pro, Marantze 5200,9200 and the Onkyo Chad, but there are a few remotes with that ability, and some of the less expensive ones.

Anthony is correct, but RF is typically not nearly as reliable as a hardwired solution. Most homes have lots of potential devices that might cause interference (microwaves, portable phones, flourescents,etc.).
