Does anyone have thier PC control thier Home Theater? The PC would be hooked up to the TV as one input. Instead of reaching for the remote for the cable box you use the one that controls the PC. A pop up comes up from the PC that looks like those TV setup screens. You use the cursor control on the remote to naigate and press buttons. The PC then transmits the signals to the Home Theater (IR, X-10, etc.) to change the setup. Let us say it changes the setup of the home theater from cable viewing to a DVD. This would turn on the receiver, DVD, and change the TV to the DVD input.
Is this blue sky?

I have my home automation system control my AV system -turns on the nesw when I come down to the kitchen in the morning - turns out the FM when I come home - turns off undeeded components when a new source is selected, etc. etc.
But I don't understand why you would want to use a PC instead of a universal remote with macros to control a HT - perhaps I am missing something.
Cheers, Jim.

Not blue sky at all. I have a basic setup at the moment.
PC -> slink-e -> Sony 400 disc changer (+ DVD, TV, VCR, Satellite etc.)
The slink-e controls the changer and the receiver to change inputs for when it is playing MP3s.
The slink-e also receives IR and passes it to the PC.
It would be no big step for all components to be controlled by the PC.
The PC could then maintain the state of the system and get over the problem of a pronto having no flags/state memory.
Just my thoughts.
Cheers, Bruce.

"Is this blue sky?"
I'd be more afraid of "blue screen"
