Take a close look at the Toshiba 36HF71. Outstanding picture and features. Shop around and you should find it for $1.4 to $1.6 K.

The RCA 36MM110 is a top-of-the-line set, with numerous discrete codes for inputs. And talk about inputs and outputs.

The set is HD-ready, offers very high resolution, and looks better than the Wega 400 series on regular cable. Seriously. And, it's a darned-site cheaper than the Sony. ... Mike

The Sony 36HS20 model is what I have and I love it. I also have the 36 xbr 450 with the 3.2 pull down that goes with the 5900m.

Yes, I have regular cable. I really use it for my HD-100 sat. Also, for my DVD Changers.

I personally would not spend any substantial $ on a new TV if it is not HD ready and 16:9. Soon enough it will be the standard
