Well, option one is out of the question. I wouldn't feel right about it.

And as to 2, I need a pre/proc, not a receiver. My wiring is tightly dressed to amps, speakers, etc. But I hadn't thought about local repair on this at all. I just *assumed* that most things digital require factory repair. I'll check today to see where the closest authorized repair station is.

At this point this is the last hum, buzz or glitch I have in the system.I'd like to get it right.

Bob, assuming it's not a compatibility issue, or 'common to the players', the process of elimination says it's the pre-pro. For a temporary substitution, most receivers have preamp outputs, so you can try the existing player with a different decoder.

Plus, since both players produce the noise, take the loaner to anywhere you can connect it to another pre-pro or receiver and see if you can reproduce the noise. I'm willing to bet it won't happen.

The Parasound looks like the culprit.

Well, I've made arrangements to send it in to Parasound after the first of the year. They estimate 75-125.00 to fix. Assuming the problem is apparent to them there.

I'll post in a few weeks when it comes home and let you know what they find.
