I am trying to to get a DVD to set up my 1)Pioneer 53” Theatre View HDTV & 2)Yamaha RX-V1. Thanks to Larry Fine for 2 suggestions: Avia & Video Essentials. I also see there is Ultimate DVD Platinum/Gold/Silver. However,I do not clearly see the references to Dolby EX, DTS ES, nor 6.1. Further, Ultimate indicates they are just now compiling the required HD images on a yet to be released version. Do I have to wait to do it correctly, or is there something that can work that is now available? Doug UPDATE: I found a thread under the DVD section I think I will wait until the new editions come out, and use one of those.

I'm not sure there is a HD test disc at this point...
But I know Sencore makes a test generator that will produce SMPTE color bars for lots of different resolutions. You could use the filters in the Avia DVD to align the colors properly on your HD inputs, and use the Avia disc itself for the composite to component level inputs....
I really like the Avia disc MUCH better than the Video Essentials...

Doug,
I believe one or both of these disks (Avia & VE) are available for rent at Hollywood Video.
