I just received a Sony receiver(model#475)& Yamaha speakers as a gift. Can I operate my Toshiba TV and Samsung VCR with the Sony remote by wiring everything thru my receiver? What is the wiring for such with cable TV? (ie, cable TV antenna to VCR > VCR audio/video out to Sony:video - audio/video in, etc.)Thanks.

Yeah, I definatly suggest you use your VCR as the television tuner instead of the built in one. It just makes one less step for you to watch Cable or a video.

I prefer to wire everything through a receiver or pre amp and use that as my main switcher. Although I don't have a yamaha, I'm sure the remote is either coded or somewhat programable to allow you to use it as your main remote control, just check out the manual and you should have no problems.

Wire each peice of gear, IE vcr out to receiver vcr in etc. Then use the monitor out of the receiver to your television. When it comes to video and s-video etc, receivers will not change composite video to s-video, so if you use a combination of these, your TV will have to have multiple video inputs. Otherwise, stick with either one or the other, not both.

Hope that helped a bit.
