You guys have any favorite magazines you read for A/V stuff? I've checked out Sound and Vision and a couple of others.

What I'm looking for is reviews, howtos, and some articles for those like me who are trying to learn.

Thanks!

Craig, are you suggesting not reading them all???

Besides, S & V, there's also Home Theater Interiors and Stereophile Guide to Home Theater, etc. I'm sure the local home theater stores in your area have one or two to recommend, or even carry, and don't forget to check out the magazine racks at the bookstores, like Books-A-Million and Barnes & Noble.

I'd add "The Perfect Vision" and "WideScreen Review" to the list as perhaps the best advice available. WideScreen Review, though, is definitely run by snobs; however, they pack lots of fascinating information into every issue on the state of the business, in particular topics on HDTV. ... Mike

I have to second Mike's opinion in "TPV" and "WSR" they both are a little snobby, but lots of great in-depth info.

If I had to choose between "Home Theater" and "Sound & Vision", I waffle from month to month on which publication is my favorite. I will say that I think S&V is more advertising driven, by that I mean that any manufacturer that buys a full page ad will get a good review. But none of the publications mentioned have the same editorial policies as "Consumer Reports". (Not that I would necessarily recommend them for anything either).

I just found out the other day that Home Theater Interiors is defunct as of the December issue. The company that publishes "Home Theater" was bought by the company that publishes "Stereophile Guide to Home Theater" and they publish "AV Interiors" so I hope the same thing doesn't happen to "HT".

My biggest problem with some of the HT magazines is that they always seem to feature HT's that cost near as much or even more than a lot of folks pay for their house.

And, while those can be fun to look at and I admire the creativity of the people who build them, it would be nice to see more HT's that would not require another zero or two after my networth to be able to afford.

Cheers, Jim.

Audio Video Interiors. They show the answers to the real problems, how to make all this stuff fit.
