Hey Folks,
I have been continualy thinking of how I can better my
own D.I.Y Cable Designs and after hours of pondering
diffrent Bi-Wire designs I have come up with the cable
design you see below. My beleif is that the biggest
drawback of Bi-Wires is the issue of capacitance induced
by bundling 4 strands of 12awg in close proximity to
each other. I feel that the PVC sheilding is not adequate
enough when you run these cables up against each other.
My idea is to physicly seperate 4 12awg core's using
thier own PVC Jacket in addition to a thick PTFE Teflon
tube that each conductor will run though. Then each seperate
conductor/PTFE conduit will be seperated with a slight
air gap inside another outer PTFE conduit. This will all
be covered with expanding nylon and the ends will be
heat shrunk color coded with a high quality high flexability
PolyElfin coating. I am not decided on termination options
yet, but I am strongly considering the use of WBT Spade
and WBT Locking Banana Terminations.
My theory behind the whole design is that the air gap
coupled with the use of PTFE which is a superior dialectic
should efficiently sheild the effects of capacitance and
subsiquintly lower the attenuation of high range signals.
I would in all likelyhood be able to "buy" premade cables
cheaper than what I will undoubtely invest in making
these cables. Just the Terminations alone will cost more
than most "Botique" cables. The WBT 90 Degree Locking
Split Pin Banana Terminations cost $80.00 per 4 and I
need a total of 12! Yes these will be pricey, But I also
beleive that I won't be making any more "for myself"
after this.. If they are successful I may make a few
sets to sell.
Let me know what you think, Am I just nuts? Am I delusional? (Most Likely!)
Your comments are appreciated.
Sincerely
Brett D.
