Having just bought a new Pioneer VSXD710S receiver. I noticed in a small memo on page 10 of the manual that whatever input plug you use you MUST use the corresponding output plug. ie: S-VIDEO in would have to go to an S-Video out.
PROBLEM: I only have composite in on the TV. How would I get the cable (F-type) connector into the receiver that has NO F-type connector, and then out to the TV via the composite cables

Green, you need a tuner first, such as a VCR. (You could use the TV's tuner if it has A/V outs.) You need to feed the Pioneer receiver Video/Left/Right signals via RCA-type interconnects.
Feed the F-type cable into your VCR and use it for tuning channels, and plug the interconnects into the V/L/R output jacks, and the other ends into the VCR (or Video 1) jacks on the receiver. Then, the video-out to TV jack will have the video signal it needs to feed the monitor (TV), and the audio will be decoded as apropriate, and fed to your speakers.
