Am I the only one who tears apart his (or hers) speakers just to look at them?

Hey Folks!

Yeah I know I am loopy, I ripped the mids and tweet out
of my new AR4C Hi-Res Center Channel just to look at
the quality of the drivers and to see how they were
constructed. Here are a couple pix for you to gaze upon
and you can see the rest by going to the address listed
here ----> [Link: westol.com]

This image shows the back side of the 5 1/4" Magnesium
Aluminium Midrange (Hi-Vi Research Driver) The basket
is also made of cast Aluminium.

This image shows a front side close up of (besides my
fat fingers) the Titanium Diamond Hardened 1" Tweeter.
Could the Magnet be any larger? This thing is heavy!
(not to mention pretty!)

A happier pair of drivers I have never seen. When these
2 join in on a chorus they produce beautiful music!

Okay I am done now :)

Brett, LOL! No, not by a long shot are you the only one, but I don't limit myself to just speakers. I have opened just about every piece of gear in my system, and you are aware of how many pieces that is.

I discovered, for instance, that the current-source outputs of my Sunfire amps are merely 1-ohm power resistors in series with the voltage-source outputs.

Also, I had to see the "Alpha-Turn" mechanism in my laser disc player - in action, of course. What else? Oh, yeah, the circuit board in my pre-pro is quite heavily populated.

Hey, like the bank robber in Dirty harry said,"I gots to know!"

Larry,

*whew* glad I am not the only one! :)

Thank god for Crutchfield though, They saved me the
trouble of tearing my DS787 apart (they have pictures
of it in pieces on the web site) :)
