I have been looking at HDTV's for a month now. I decided on 2 models in my price range. Mitsubishi WS-65819 AND Hitachi 61SWX10B. The Hitachi is a little more expensive. I like both it is a hard choice it seems. Can someone please give me feedback on the difference between these models? Which one would you buy?

I used to personally sell both models. The Hitachi has a better lens system. The Mitsubishi has a better mirror. I would definately go with the Hitachi. One word, quality. If you were really smart, you would look at the XBR models by Sony.

Thank you for your replies. This is my first time on this forum and found it very informative. I decided to get the Hitachi after long hours of research. Both look great but the Hitachi just looks a little sharper/crisper to me. I'm getting it in 2 days and can't wait.

The thing that sucks with Hitachi (in the models I've seen) the widescreen bars @ top & bottom are GREY, not black! VERY irritating. I passed up a great deal in a Hitachi because of this.

I have the MIT 65807. I have had to send it back to the dealer two times so far. The first time to replace the power supply (they just replaced the whole unit) and next to work on the picture in the HDTV mode. I did not get a receiver for a couple months after I purchased the unit and the picture "bends" all the way across the screen about 10" from the bottem of the unit. The rest of the picture is great. I also have it hooked to a progressive scan DVD player and that picture is excellent, hard to tell from the HDTV picture. This input does not have any problems focusing. The picture quality of the HD signal is great. I looked at a number of the brands in the store and really could not tell a difference.
