Does anyone know why Harman/Kardon has fallen off the high end charts. I know they sold out to Circuit City, but Harman Internation has been in Circuit City for years with JBL and JBL's quality has not been killed.

I think I have the last good HK receiver built, the AVR80. They are also "pulling a Denon", because their Flagship receiver doesn't even have the capabilities of the model below it.

I think I am going to switch to Pioneer Elite, I have a friend that owns a company installs heating and air conditioning systems and because of this and his supplier he is an Authoried supplier of Pioneer Elite equipment. I know it sounds weird, but I called Pioneer and they verified it.

Input on the Pioneer Elite is welcomed. I can get the VSX-36 for $875 shipped (MSRP $1200)

I would rather give some input on h/k...

Reg. "pulling a Denon", h/k has announced a new AVR 8500 (for Europe) to hit UK market in January. With this, the Denon-resemblence will apparently wanish...

P.S. I have an AVR4000, and I have started saving for the AVR8500... ;-)

greve,

I have seen the AVR8000 on thier web site, and it is FINALLY THX (again, they had stopped for a while), but it does not have DTS-ES discrete. I have just been dissapoint the the AVR510 and AVR520 have been the better receiver.

I have the AVR-7000 and just love it except for I accidentially dropped it the other night while moving into my new house. I have it on a Sanus CF-55 rack and the shelf stuck to the feet and down it went. If anybody can tell me or have any idea how much abuse these things can take i would appreciate it. It seems to operate fine but it also seems to take more volume than normal but on the flip side I had never had it in my new room and it might be room. Any Ideas- I don't really want to send it for testing because they would probably screw it up somehow!
