Same with Onkyo.. Quality over quantity..

The sound feilds on the TX DS-787 for example are:
TV Logic,THX Cinema,Pro Logic,Studio-Mix,Orechestra,
Unplugged, Enhanced 7,Stereo and Direct (I may be
leaving one or 2 out) and all sound great when used
for thier perspective tasks (Audio or Aud/Vid)

I know one thing, I need to get a sub.... It's a shame
I had a sub and I sold it and now I need another one..

The AR9 Towers I have put out wonderful bass in certain
DSP fields like Studio-Mix but when in true DTS or THX
Modes you loose all that bass as it's going to the LFE
Channel.

Does anyone here like Pioneer Elite. I think their top end receivers are on the same level, and hiopefully this years model will include DTS-ES Discrete and DPL2. However, I think the upgradeablity is not as nice as the Denon and Onkyo. I just have found Onkyos difficult to work, however it has been a couple of year since I have had to help a friend install or calibrate one.

I've listened to a LOT of receivers recently.
Most of the listening was done in stereo mode.
I found that the Integra 9.1 was by far the most pleasing from a musicality point of view. The top of the range Denon gave me a headache. Wasn't too impressed by the top of the range Marantz either. In the end I've gone for seperates (Classe).
For what's it's worth from a musical point if view.
(My theory was that if it sounds good in stereo it should be just fine in Cinema mode)
