So recently my 360 model DVD player started freezing up, etc. until last night it quit completely! No matter what disc I put in it (DVD or CD), it says "No Disc". (I tried again this morning and got the same result.)

Has anyone else had a problem like this?

If so, what did you do: repair or replace? If you got it repaired, did you use a Sony Service Center? What did you pay?

I haven't had good luck with getting electronics repaired in the past and am just thinking of buying a new one. But I've only had the darn thing for 14 months - is that the normal life span for a $250 DVD player?!

Any ideas and past experiences are greatly appreciated!

Hmm I never heard of them doing that. All I have is a Lip sync problem. But I would take it to a Sony Repair shop to see if they can fix it first. If they can great if they can't buy a new one and get the next version up.

I've seen them do this before but only in model homes where they are playing 24hr's a day. The first thing I would try is a cd lens cleaner available at any wal-mart or similar store. If that does not work do find a sony service center they should have no problem fixing it.As far is cost is concerned The dvp s360 only carries a 1 year parts and labor warranty. So take it some where where the bench charge is minimal.

No, 14 months is certainly not the normal lifespan. My 360 hasn't burped once in about the same time span as yours. Plays EVERYTHING. If the repairs are reasonable, I would get it fixed. It's a pretty good player, IMHO.
