Can anyone please explain the difference between YPbPr and YCbCr?

Technically they are not the same with YPbPr being a descriptor for anaolog component and YCbCr being for a digital component signal but the Japs got things screwed up and interchange these. Rather than change the Japs, they are normally accepted to be the same thing.

For a detailed explaination, go to [Link: hometown.aol.com] I haven't used this site in a while, but it is very usefull and, as you will find, very boring and sometimes you have to read it a couple of times to catch on!

Have fun,

Thanks Randy that makes sense (and that site is great for other video info).

I have a Sony model KVEX34M39 - which is only sold in Australia and New Zealand. The problem is finding some decent specifications on it (no web site I have found in over 2 months of searching has anything close). The closest set I can find is the XBR400 (which "looks" identical and the specs are very similar). The specs I have don't list any horizontal or vertical resolution nor refresh rates.

The component inputs are labelled YCbCr and the instructions say it can take YPbPr. I am trying to get a VGA signal through a converter into the right format. All the convertors I can find output YPbPr (and the voltages are slightly different .7 vs 1).

Any further advice would be mostly appreciated!

Andy
