Avia is the most current. But I would recommend getting both. Each have its strong and weak points. Go to hometheaterspot, avsforum and do some research and you will find additional links that explain them.
Hope this helps.

I second what Dave said. If you don't want to get both, I'd say get the AVIA. It's great and more user friendly the last VE disc.

Make sure you get the AVIA SE, if you get AVIA. It has more calibrations than the original.

Are you sure that is "AVIA Platinum". I don't see any AVIA Markings. I didn't even know there was such a DVD out. Thanks.

There is an Avia SE (Special Edition), which is the latest.
I know DiscWasher makes a Platinum Edition calibration disk, but it is no where near as good as AV or VE.

Oops, sorry there is no Avia Platinum, I was combining 2 different products. The Platinum product is the "Ultimate DVD - Platinum by Unapix" mini review [Link: hometheaterinfo.com]) this product provides setup functions like the Avia and VE products, I have not used the setup functions myself so I can't comment on how good they are. It also has a number of demos allowing you to view different screen ratios, there are also a number of sound demos that allow you to listen to the same piece of music in pro logic,5.1 and dts to do comparisons. For those with the right hardware there are some 96Khz music tracks. Trevor Wish we had the msg editing function in this forum :)

Trevor, Thanks for the clarification.
GregoriusM, Could you go into more detail about the AVIA SE- What would we be getting over just AVIA, and where do we find it?
Thanks,
Dave
