I have a sony CDP-CX450 cd changer. Quite often When I want to play a CD it spins around looking for the CD, making funny noises and then stops. Sometimes it finds the CD, but it wont play it. Othertimes it tries to play a CD, but after about 30 seconds of clicking noises it sometimes starts halfway through the disc, or in the midle of a song and wont skip to other songs.

I read the troubleshooting section in the manual an I know that I have hooked it up corectly. The Manual said that if the player is working incorrectly, then the microcomputer chips may be operating incorrectly. It then said to disconnect the AC power cord, then reconnect it back to the wall outlet to reset the player. I did that and it solved the problem, but the next day it will be back to its old non-working self, forcing me to unplug it yet again.

It seems to do this about 30% of the time. Do I have to unplug the player from the wall every time I want to use it? This is really annoying.

I bought the CD player through Crazy Eddie only a couple days ago and really don't want to pay to have it shipped back. Does anyone know how to contact Sony about warranty information? Or Tech help? I really don't want to return it because I spent several hours programming all 400 disc slots, but then again it is really annoying to have to unplut it all the time.

This is also the second product in a row that I bought from Sony that hasn't worked correctly. I bought a receiver from them and had to return it to the store and buy a differnt brand reciever. Has Sony's quality of products realy gone this far downhill? Other people that I talked to say that their sony Cd players never work right either.

I was going to buy a Sony flatscreen TV but now I'm having second thoughts and I think I will go with a differnt brand.

I would return it if possible. I have a Sony CDP-CX400 which is basically the same changer as your 450. I have had it for several months without any problems at all.

I would also return the unit. I have had a 450 for a year and not a single problem. In fact I am now considering getting a 400 to as well. You also might check if there is a local shop that is a certified SONY Repair / Warranty shop. I have one near me and have had them do all of my SONY work.

I to would send the unit back. I work for a company that is a sony dealer and there should be no problem in returning it.And personaly as I am In costermer service I think sony equipment has the least amount of problems of most brands. If the unit is only a couple weeks old you should'nt have it repaired uless autorized by sony you might void your warranty! Crazy Eddie shouldnt charge you any shipping either he simply has to get an ra (return-autorization)from sony. If you continue to have problems with them e-mail me and I will see what numbers I can give you for sony as I have mostly dealer numbers. GOOD LUCK.
