I just spent two hours demoing some Nuance speakers and they blew my mind both for music and for HT.

If anyone is looking for a great speaker, check them out. The website is NuanceAudio.com.

I hope their speakers are better than their web site. My 12 year old son has designed better sites!

Yes, I noticed the website is pretty poor. But, hey, it wasn't too long ago that Sony's web site sucked big time!

By the way, Nuance speakers is owned by the same guy that started Paradigm, Def Tech, and a couple of other Canadian speaker companies. He just keeps on trying out new things, apparently.

Uh, wait a minute. You think Sony's site is good now?

No, but it's quite a bit better than it used to be.

I wish the companies would realize that their website is the first place people go to check on equipment.

... so I took a look at the Nuance website. My first impression: Hey, nothing wrong here. Gets you right in... then I clicked on "Product Information". Now I see! There is none! Brilliant marketing move, Nuance! ... Mike

I was told by someone at my local electronics store that Nuance are basically the black sheep of the speakers out there. Thay appear to be nice, but really are pretty crappy. Paradigm are amazing speakers, all components are built in Canada, and all components are assembled in Canada, they are 100% canadian. Whereas Nuance, the speaker is made is Europe the cabinets are made in the states, something else in done Aisa, and it is all shipped to Canada for assembly. Or so he tells me, and he is quite the audiophile, so I tempted to beleive him.

1) Does it matter where speaker is built/sourced/assembled?

2) Do the thousands of U.S. customers care that Paradigm is entirely made in another country? Obviously not. And they don't just buy them because of the currency exchange.

2) They are certainly not crappy speakers. They come with a 10 year warranty and a 3 year "full price paid" trade-up and sound great (to me.)

3) If you haven't listened to them, you can't give a fully informed comment.

One of the new Jaguars has an engine built in the U.S. Are you not going to buy a Jaguar because it has "foreign" parts.

Automobile manufacturers get their parts from all over. A lot of the cars you drive are assembled in Mexico with parts from Canada, the U.S., Japan, etc. And they can still be top-of-the-line well-rated cars.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Check them out yourself. That's why I started this thread. So you'd go and LISTEN to them.

... Greg

P.S. Just because their website is crappy doesn't mean the speakers are.

This is my point, if three parts for something are made in three different locations, then there is more chance for error than if all the parts are made and monitored in the same environment. At least that's my opinion. I personally have all Paradigm for my setup and have no need to listen to something else at this point in time. The Nuance could sound absolutely fabulous and be one of the best speakers in the world. I'll tell you what, if i ever get a chance to listen to them, I will.

Greg: I have all Paradigm right now too, and am very satisfied with them. I just had to point out that the Nuance speakers are speakers worth considering.

Paradigm rocks!!! :-)

Which line of paradigm do you have? I am thinking of listening to the Studio line to see what I think. Right now I have got Monitor 9's for my fronts and mini monitors for the rears , and to tell you the truth i really can't recall what my center is off the top of my head. I don't have a sub, cause i demo'd one at my place, and really i don't think it was needed.

I'm in an apartment so my Titan V2 for mains, CC170 center, and ADP 170 dipoles, along with the PDR-10 subwoofer do a very nice job with my Denon 3300.

Next step will be speakers in the Paradigm Reference range - but I will audition other speakers as well. Totem come to mind, as well as Boston Acoustics. Tough to beat the Reference speakers from Paradigm though.

My next speaker purchase will be a well thought out and many-auditioned experience. I want to get a set that I should be happy with for years.

The Studio line is a nice line. I would go with the Studio 40's, maybe 60's for Mains and the 20's for rears, since it looks like you're not into dipoles. Anything above that does not sound much better. I would get a sub though. I think overall that speakers sound better when they don't have to handle the under 60hz sound, and can concentrate on the rest.

Unless, of course, you buy a full-range speaker with a dedicated powered sub. Some people like them. Some don't. Some want to be able to position their sub for optimum bass characteristics.

IMHO!

Well folks, I can say I've personally been on a tour of the Nuance manufacturing factory here in Markham, Ontario. And I can tell you that almost all of the rumors out there about Nuance are positively false. I certainly can't tell you where the drivers or amps are made, but I know everything else. :-)

So daniel would you say that they are in fact made with quality parts because everything I've ever heard (both on line and in demo's) points otherwise. Their sales tactics are horrible (pushy, ignorant and usually false) That said its been a couple of years since I was last subjected to a nuance demo so maybe they've changed since then (doubtful)
