Does anyone know of a device that connects to a stereo, not a computer that can store ripped cds on a giant harddrive? I want to get rid of my cd jukebox and get something that will be slimmer and more customizable.
thxs.

Audio Request MP3 Jukebox www.avsforum.com has a section devoted to this product. Another alternative is storing the MP3s on you computer and either connecting the computer to your stereo or using something like the Dell Digital Audio Receiver. SonicBlue has the same device for about $100 more and Gateway has a similar device. -Robert

If you'd like the option of storing both mp3 and uncompressed digital media, take a look at the imerge S1000 soundserver. Be forewarned, its not cheap, but it is the only hard drive based product I've heard that competes with the sound quality of a decent cd player.

thxs but 6 gig is too small for my needs and I am also looking for something with an interface for the tv if possible. I really don't want to have to use my pc at all, not even for ripping the cds.

There is also a 20G version. [Link: the-ctrl-alt-del.com]It has a IR receiver. (not currently used) It can rip music with it's line-in jack. I think it was to WAV format though. Aaron
