I've used X10 extensively and just installed a Lutron Grafik Eye. The Lutron is the ONLY way to go!!! X10 can be very unreliable!

examples of both can be seen at:

Bruce,

You obvisouly have to build a solid X10 platform in order to have a reliable system. Once that's done, X10 is very reliable.

Hardwired, of course, is even better. It's very difficult to get pricing on Lutron. How much did the Grafik Eye system cost?

Considering the scope of your project, hardwired was probably a good choice. No better time than when everything's already torn apart.

Did you do the whole house or just the theatre area?

Does the Grafix Eye system have programmable controllers similar in function to the Ocelot, JDS TimeCommander, etc.?

What did you use as a control system for the theatre? Universal remote, touchscreen panel, etc.?

We used the Grafik Eye for the theatre only. The theatre was added after the original house was built. The two Lutron 4 zone controllers are linked to a Crestron touchscreen system mounted in one of the theatre chairs. The Lutrons are linked and talk to one another. This effectively gives us 8 zones of dimming. For non-controlled lights we used Lutron Maestro dimmers.

How much was the Lutron part of the system for controlling the eight zones? How many scenes can be learned?
