I have purchased a six year old RUNCO laserdisc/CD player that I am told was manufactured by MSB and based upon the Panasonic LX-900 transport. Naturally, the remote control has wondered off and I would love to track one down or receive information that might permit me to use some universal remote. I understand that some universal remotes are programmed with product codes that permit them to operate that product.

I will be most grateful for any information you may be able to offer. Many thanks.

Sounds like correct advice. Any programmable remote with built-in codes should work.

Jim, I hope it uses standard Pantysonic codes. The odds are slim to none that Runtco codes are included in any remotes. You've got a real limited production model. Only a few thousand model 1 & 2 players combined were made. There are buttons that are only on the original remote that you need. There's: digital effects ( the most elaborate of any player ), analog/digital button, frame advance, ect...

eav.com ( Evolution A/V [somewhar in Kalafornie] ) is selling MSB Silver players. Maybe, they could help you out on a remote or advice? Check out their LDs too. I know somebody else who recently aqquired an LJ 2 also. E-mail me and I'll forward you to him. You guys might want to compare notes. Maybe he could help you out on codes somehow, he has the remote. Enjoy your new player. If you're used to Pioneer's pic, it'll be a touch softer. But, the Runco is one of the top 5 players ever made, it ain't no slacker! Best wishes, Rachael the big disc cat, aka la gata del disco grande!

Jim, my bud with the Runco has talked with Runco and they have remotes available for $80. Best wishes from Laserland, Rachael!
