I lost the PIP feature on my Proscan when the installers hooked up my home theater system based around a Sony DSS, Denon receiver, Toshiba VCR and Pioneer DVD.

Is there any way to get it back? Thanks in advance.

Do you still get a window, except with no image in it? If so, you'll need to connect a second tuner device (your VCR) to a free input on your TV. The installer probably ran all devices thru your amp. The TV is probably tuned to a rear A/V input and only sees what arrives from the amp. If there is another source (local antenna or cable) then it could go directly to the TV to serve as the PIP source.

Ultimately you need TWO tuners with source data to tune. Your DSS may be your only current source. If that is so, you'll only potentially have use of your PIP to watch DSS in a window while a movie is playing.

Unlike cableTV, DSS requires that special DSS box to tune it. CableTV can be tuned by VCRs and TVs. By switching from cableTV to DSS, you lost your potential second tuner.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. The Proscan TV does have two tuners in it, one for the PIP, but no window pops up when I use the original Proscan remote. However, I do have an attic antenna hooked up to my VCR and I can switch to that setup with my universal remote (Home Theater Master) to get the NY broadcast stations. The over the air picture is pretty bad, though (that's why I pay DirectTV for the local NY channels). So you're right, the installer ran all devices thru the amp. But it still seems like I should be able to somehow run the internal TV PIP tuner to the amp as another input?

I have a Pioneer RPTV with two antenna inputs (plus 4 other inputs) and a two tuner PIP. The PIP is designed to work only with antenna A but not antenna B. Could this be your case?

Stan, I ran all my components through my receiver and then added a second Directv to go straight to the tv for PIP or for the wife and kids when they don't want to use the av system. You can make the second box also play into the bedroom if you need more usability.

Thanks, I've already got a second box hooked to the bedroom. The PIP works only if I shut all the boxes except the A/V receiver and use the TV off the rooftop antenna.
