Have read threads about using appropriate bass management in the DVD/decoder when hooking up a DVD player to an older "Digital Ready" receiver, but any advice on how to get bass management (e.g., bass to sub, mid/high to mains) when just playing a CD? Receiver is a Marantz SR870 - I checked the manual this weekend & couldn't find any commands for bass management.

I had the same receiver and could not find any bass management info either. The only thing it would do was in the Pro-logic setup menu for the center speaker -- if you selected "LARGE" for center it would route all bass to the center and none to the mains. I have sold the Marantz and bought the Outlaw Audio model 1050 6.1 receiver w/DD and DTS. This thing has a built-in crossover that you can adjust from 60, 80, 100, 150 and 200Hz. and works in ANY mode! It is awsome, and they just lowered the price to $499.00+55 shipping.
I was amazed at the dynamics and decoding abilities.

The Marantz was very good, but ultimately became obsolete!

Good luck,
