I am considering getting a progressive scan DVD to connect to my Mitsu HD TV.. Question is where do I connect it since the inputs on the TV are already taken by the DTC-100 cables? Or will the DVD player connect via ???? i.e. the Mitsu only has one set of inputs for componenet(HD)

Kenny, you (obviously) need something that will provide a switching function, unless you want to do the plug/unplug thing.

There are receivers and preamps that do component switching, and also, there are stand-alone component switchboxes available. I don't have my catalogs in front of me, but if nobody else posts any models, I'll try a little later.

Thanks! Since I seem to have assumed correctly that the HD inputs are needed not only for the DTC-100 but also progressive scan DVD do you know of any switches that can be controlled via remot? IR or RF is fine since I now have a Pronto Pro.... While were on that subject, anyone know of a good converter for RF to IR and Vice-Versa?

Kenny, which mitsubishi do you have?? I have the WS-55807. It has two component (480i/480p) inputs, as well as an auto-sensing DTV 480i/480p/1080i input. You should be able to hook up your hd receiver and your progressive scan dvd at the same time.

Mine is one of the first released and only (as far as HD inputs) has the RCA and a similiar to VGA type input....

11.25.01: The model is WS 55805 and thus has only component inputs for HD and DVD. Since I am wanting to connect an XBox AND DVD Progressive Scan AND my HD receiver am one set of inputs short.. SO.. Need a switch that will accept at least TWO component inputs (the DVD and XBox) and then would send out one set to the TV... Make sense?

Larry, if you know of any stand alone component switchers, it would be great if you can post them. If I eventually have a dvd player, dvhs recorder, set-top box, and a video game system, that's 4 components. There's nothing out there with that many components so I'm in the same boat as Kenny.

Check this out:

There's also a 7 x 2 switcher by the same company, but it's $6K.

Also, check this out:

Click on the Component Video and Digital Audio link, item #954.

Thanks Larry. This is exactly what I've been looking for.

I have a question about the second option you selected (#954). Do you know how much it costs and is it controlled by remote control? I ordered a catalog which might have that information, but I was wondering if you know.

Well try the following for just a description (it's the second one on the page):

[Link: 209.248.228.2]

Also, at the main page, if you select faq and then archives, there's some documents on the 954.

It seems that this model is part of a complete system though, not geared toward consumers, but to people wanting to show off various equipment and sell them. I'd like to know if you can purchase this as a single unit though and use it without the rest of the system.
