Hey everyone,

Has anybody ever had a dish network system fry their vcr? I had a relative call me last night and ask for advice. He said that his vcr of three year stoped working so he bought a new one and ran the dish through it so he could record, well something happend to it within a few moments apon power up. He took the vcr back a got a replacement. Same thing. So I suggested a bad ground from or on the dish? He then said that he had hooked it up directly to his tv and it work fine. Any words of wisdom?

Thanks

Did he run the cable from the dish directly to the VCR instead of directly to the sat box?

Spikey is right; there should be nothing between the dish antenna and its receiver. There is a DC voltage on the coax that powers the LNB. The VCR goes AFTER the receiver on the way to the TV.

No, he went from the Sat. reciever to the vcr with coax cable. He did the same with the tv. Sat. reciever then to the tv. He tried both coax and RCA's. Worked fine like that, hooked to the tv. He went back to the vcr and poof. He has another vcr hooked up right now and it seems to be working. He hasn't tried to record from the dish yet, but so far so good. Maybe just a string of bad luck? Thanks for the input.
