Hi there..yep, got it the first monday it became available. concerning problems, I was getting the problem where the video would break up and audio would go in and out. I kept calling them, and as the days went by, it kept getting better and better. now however, the picture is solid, but the audio gets out of sync and clicks a lot and stutters...so the guy is coming out tomorrow to have a look. i'm hoping he'll do some magic wand waving and get it going. this happens mostly on the video on demand, and channels such as tech tv at #175. I've got a pronto, but haven't gotten it set up yet since digital cable still isn't working fully yet. maybe someone else out there can scream and yell also, but there's no hdtv with this!! all this delay on the new boxes, and they don't even have hdtv in some capacity through these things...they had msg, fox sports and hbo in hdtv if you had a separate tuner, but they just took off hbo in hdtv..how horrible..i called and complained and they say they're not getting it back..can't believe it...someone tell me why i shouldn't just switch to satellite already..this is crazyness.

Hey, Festy

Sorry, but I don't think anybody here will be able to give you a reason why you should not go with satellite. I did, just this past week. I put up the dish myself, took all of 15 minutes, got a 60 signal strength on the first try, tweaked it to over 90 in 2 minutes.

I bought 3 Philips DSR6000R TiVo/tuners ($99 ea. at Circuit City) and one other Philips tuner that was only $29. A 3-in/8/out multiswitch for $59 (the TiVo's are dual tuner units and need 2 feeds ea.) I even got an optical-to-coaxial digital converter (cheap!) for my pre-pro, which has no optical inputs.

Got 5-yr. extended warranty on everything, and 2 dual-LNB dishes for a penny each, one as a spare for now. A reel of coax, a box of coax plugs, a coax stripper, and a hex crimper, and I'm in business.

So, to restate, no, there's no good reason to put up with the headaches and poor service. I'm not ready for HDTV yet, but until then, I'm confident I have the best thing going. The pictures are sharp and steady, and the dual-tuner and TiVi features are great!

yeah the dual tuner ability of the satellite based one is incredible...i have a 30 hour sony tivo which I opened up and expanded to 154 hour (130 gig in total) with an extra 100 gig hard drive...really made it worthwhile as it can store 42 hours on best quality. to be honest, i'm still hesitating about satellite because hdtv is the driving factor for me. with satellite they have it coming off a different satellite so I'd need 2 dishes. having an apartment in a 2 family house makes it a little more difficult since the roof isn't mine. I wish they'd make something that you could attach to your window frame or something... :)

Mine was just installed yetserday. I have seen the same problems you are with the VOD skipping. I think this is because the download is slow and getting behind. I haven't had a chance to spend much time with it or test the Dolby 5.1 capability. It seems the VOD doesn't use 5.1 though. I also can't find a proper code for my Showstopper to control the box. Has anyone else had any luck finding one.

I will say though that I am somewhat disapointed after all the hype and wait. If I didn't live in an aprtment I'd probably get a satalite dish.
