Any news or rumours from Canadian Shaw Cable subscribers about upcoming PVR's, HDTV, DD 5.1, etc.?

Does anyone know of a Canadian Cable web site similar to KuSat's Satellite site only for us cable people?

Thanks!

All I know for sure is that Bell ExpressVu is offering a PVR with their new receiver/dish for $700.

I've heard that the ExpressVu PVR is pretty wimpy though in its features.

Does anyone know if StarChoice is owned by Shaw Cable? This is my impression. If that is true, then it will be a while before either one gets PVR capabilities and apparently Star Choice is going with a version of Microsoft's Ultimate TV. But they want to wait until fall of next year and be sure they implement it well.

GregoriousM, there is a distant chance that Starchoice is going to have a stand-alone pvr available before the MS based UltimateTV unit is brought out.

I'm all for this, I would appreciate a choice, b.t.w. this was Starchoice's original plan as well, (it looked like an external hard drive for a computer).

Also I think it is supposed to integrate directly with the Starchoice IPG to allow on-the-spot recording selection.

However these are rumours, not based on press releases or promises, YMMV.

Cool. Just as long as they are working on one, and taking the time to make it good. I can wait another 6 to 12 months.

Thanks for the info (rumours). ;-)
