Has anyone heard of any plans by DirecTV to add any network HD programming? I understand that Dish now offers the CBS HD feed. Also, are there plans by DirecTV to add any additional movie channels in HD? The new HDNet on DirecTV is pretty good, but based on the inability of them to update their website with current program information, I don't expect them to be around for long.

CBS, Showtime and DirecTV are said to be talking, but no definitive plans announced yet.

I would disagree with your statement that HDNet won't be around long. They are owned by one of the most savvy high-tech businessmen, Mark Cuban.

I check their website daily and find the guide to be accurate, albeit only one day in advance. Perhaps your referring to the fact that they did not launch 16 hour per day programming as originally planned. You can learn why in this thread, with Mark Cuban himself providing the answer.

Steve,

I hope you are right about HDNet being around for a while. I think it will take them some time to obtain sufficient ad revenue to turn a profit and I hope that they can be around long enough to generate a lot of new programming.

I am not able to receive HD over-the-air signals in my area and am really looking forward to getting the HD digital signals over the sat. I think DirecTV will need to negotiate something in the near future to stay competetive with Dish in the HD market. I will probably switch to Dish if DirecTV does not add additional programming in the next six to nine months.

Thanks for your input.

Kris

Kris-
I don't receive OTA HD either, so my HD offerings are limited to DireTV also. I know how you feel. For now, HDNet is enough to keep me at DireTV. Also, all of my local stations (Richmond, VA) claim that they will be broadcasting HDTV OTA by May of next year. So I plan on staying with DirecTV>
