I need some input on getting the best video signal from my Dish receiver to a RPTV. The receiver is approx 35-40 feet (cable routing distance) from the RPTV. I currently have the receiver sending the video signal to the RPTV via RG-6 (out of the composite output on the receiver). The pic is quite fuzzy. I am considering running an S cable but am concerned about the length of S cable required (some sources don't recommend an S cable over 15-20 feet). Another option is to split the S signal into the L/C signals via a splitter and send them over two RG-6 lines that are recombined at the RPTV. Any input on these options (or others) is appreciated.

I'd move the RPTV right next to the Dish receiver. Run the RG-6 from the RPTV the 35-40 ft to the TV or whatever if you absolutly must. That way you could boost the signal pretty inexpensive if you just have to. I have installed some runs of s-cable like you are talking about. The cable gets quite expensive. I'd hate to see you spend that much money of a cable that's just about obsolete anyway. This may not work for your needs just a diferent way to think about it. Also for the money of a long s-cable you could probably pick up another dish receiver.--Dave.

s cable can run with no problems up to 25 feet. i would keep the rg-6 and add a simple signal-amp (about $45 dalco.com)
