I am looking at both models for picture quality as well
as ease of use and guide menus. I need the RGB with H&V
sincs. I have read that Panasonic has them, is that correct? Does the Hughes offer the same. The other possibility is the RCA DTC-100. Using the VGA to BNC step down cable. Out of the three units which is the absolute best? Is RCA going to Upgrade the DTC-100 anytime soon?

Thanks for any info you can give.

the rcs is by far the best. It's been out the longest and has the bugs worked out of it. It's also the easiest to use. Little to no fan noise.

I've had an RCA DTC-100 since it first came out for OTA local HDTV in Washington, DC. Just got DirecTV and am very, very pleased with this units handling of both. Just be aware that the RCA puts out a 540p signal, not 480p, over HD-15. Since this is the same frequency as 1080i, most monitors (like my Sony KL-W9000) handle this. Sounds like yours will too if you need RGB-HV.

I also have a Sony VPL-W400Q, which does 1080i (actually 1125/60) via HDTV YPbPr input. (While the DTC-100 will work with this FPTV, it requires a converter for HD-15 to Component YPbPr. I was going to get a second DTC-100 with RCA's converter, but I'm waiting because I hear from both my DirecTV sources and a Tech at RCA that they're coming out with a new/better model in October. I was told that "I would be very pleasantly surprise" with this new model. I'm thinking that the price will be lower and that it will have mulitple connection options. One can only hope that it puts out 720p too and has a Sage chip in it too.

Given this release in less than 3 months, you should see the prices of the DTC-100 drop dramatically. I've already seen them online for $448. If all you need is HD-15 and 1080i/540p, then buy this model on sale. Otherwise, wait until October like me.
