I am about 2 days away from making the leap into satellite heaven. However, I want to get some info on what type of equipment should I request when ordering my Dish Network system. I do not need the web features or the recording features that are found on some systems. I really only need to have a system that I can utilize with a Mitsubishi 50" TV (not HDTV) and a Yamaha reciever that has DD and DTS. The local dealer offers a buy program and a lease program on the Echostar equipment Model#4922 which has DD output. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

2000 and 3000 series do not have DD capability. The 5000 is old and has many annoyances. 6000 is HDTV. 7000 is the DishPlayer with WebTV and TIVO, which you said you're not interested in. They all currently come with a 20" dish, which you need to receive all standard channels.

So, you need the 4000 series (of which 4900 is the best) for DD sound. I don't think there is any DTS sound over satellite yet. You might as well buy it, not lease. Uh, btw, 4900 is the receiver, 4922 is the set of receiver and 20" dish.
