I just hooked up my HD SR5 with the Mitsu Adapter box (I have a WS65903) to an existing set up. I am not receiving HD Signals but the picture looks like it is slightly out of focus and more streched compared to the Sony receiver I removed.

Any Ideas of what I could do to improve the picture?

Mike, I am not very familiar with the adapter box, but I have had some experience with the HD box on a WS65905. I just so happen to work for a audio/video retailer over here in ATL,GA so I am fortunate to have help from not only the product rep's, but also our support staff. It appears that with the Mits HD box that you should hook-up the dish and an OTA (Over-The-Air) antennae to the the box so that you can recieve HD or DTV info from both the SAT and your local stations. When trying to check out local DTV stations be sure that you have first gone into the "setup menu" and check your antennae's signal strength..VERY IMPORTANT!! It you have not done this then trying to find DTV signals is next to impossible. You may also notice that your stations in DTV somewhat come in, but if the antennae's signal strength is not strong then the picture will come and go...much like a satellite box in severe weather conditions (Not that I watch directtv like that very often). Also, try to get the 24" dish setup as well..the HD channels 199 & 509 HBO HD are already on which means you are paying for these channels whether you have the HD box or not. It is also very possible to use a standard set-top (Indoor) Antennae to recieve the DTV feeds. Here in Atlanta, GA one of my customers wanted to see the SuperBowl in HD and we hooked-up his HD box with a $30-$60 powered antennae and pulled in the game Cyrstal Clear with no picture drop-outs. This situation is not normal for everyone though because an hour later and 30 miles outside the city limits I tried the same or similiar setup at another customer house and got nothing but snowy picture from HD box and indoor antannae. HD Sat System came in fine as was expected, but since this customer is quite a ways outside the city limits I am now in search of an outdoor antennae for his setup.

Hope this helps,

Anthony A.

Mike it looks like you are unlucky enough to be the first one to encounter this on the board. I think having to buy the adaptor blows, so let me know how it is resolved. I am sure it would be useful to some of us

Mike, I have the same television and receiver, I had one problem when I hooked up and realized I had crossed two connections from RGB-CV10 to TV. Double check your connections to make sure all is okay.

Frank, I moved a Sony receiver when I added the Mitsu. Did you notice any degradation in picture quality with your setup? I am wondering if the adaptor is bypassing the line doubler and I am getting poor resolution from that.
Anthony, thank you for your response. My broadcast antannae needs work and I have an expert coming Friday.
I have a direct duo dish I will be adding a lnb to for Sat HD. It is the regular 480 transmission that needs work.
Eric, I will keep everyone posted as I contact Mitsu and go through the trouble shooting. I am thinking it has to do with the line doubler and adaptor box.
I am missing the ability to cut loose a slave TV to allow it to use broadcast signal while the main is hooked to Sat with this receiver. I cannot find any reference like the sony had. any experience?

Do any of the users of The New Mitsu see a softer lower resolution picture on Non HD channels than they did with an earlier receiver? I have seen a much poorer picture on Standard def Sat.

I have a WS55905 with the RCADTC100 and I had a picture that wasn't the right size and ended up changeing the parameters in the system menu to correct the signal. The picture looks great all the time once it was adjusted

Mike, My picture is much worse for the NON-HD material. I cant seem to get this thing watchable. I'm going to try the "S" video as requested by someone else. But then I would have to switch the TV inputs every time I want HD.

"S" video is worse. Horrible picture. This cant be right. I tried all the different settings as well, 4:3, 16:9, full, cropped, letterboxed. They all look unwatchable.
