I currently have a dual LNB dish supplying 4 receivers. I just purchased HDTV TV and a DSS receiver with an HDTV Dish.
Should I eliminate the existing non HDTV dish and use the HDTV dish for all 5 receivers? or simply just install the HDTV dish next to my existing dish? I know the HDTV points to a different satellite, and I heard of possible degradation in the standard non-HDTV programs. .. Opinions, comments?? THANKS, JOE

We sell and install HD sat all the time. We do alot of plasma HD in Manhattan NY. At my house I replaced the single elipical dish with two reg 18" dishes and my single strentgh on both hd and non-hd improved drastically. Plus you can't cover the single dish. With 2 dishes, both covered I never lose single even in a blinding snow storm. Before light drizzle and I would lose HD. Steady rain I would lose both, now neither.

Hi Barry: So your saying that you can receive HD DSS without the eliptical Dish? How does the 2 regular 18" dishes connect to the mulit switch? I have a multi switch to connect 4 other receivers in addition to the new HDTV receiver.

You absolutely can receive hd dss with two 18" dishes. On the multi-switch it tells you sat A here and sat B here. It's easy and as I said if you use dish covers on the two you'll always be watching TV. Any other questions just email me directly.

Thanks for the link to that site. That explains it well. I just need to puchase the 22KHZ switch.

If either you or Barry sell it, please email me the info. THANKS,
JOE

Barry: Can you explain a little more about the "dish covers" you mentioned? I'm planning on switching from cable to DirecTV this year and I've never heard of these.
Thanks!
