Well after buying a Sony DirecTV/Tivo SAT-T60 two weeks ago and experiencing the frustration of having ran 100' of cable from my multi-port dish to the "Optional" Sat input on the receiver, hooking it up, and finding out that software doesn't support it yet, I have found out that Ultimate TV has opened it's doors.

Here's the deal. You get the 2 Tuners out of the box functionality, Built in PIP, Web, Interative TV, and TIVO like services for the exact same price. Why not??? Well with the announcement at CES on Monday that Microsoft would finally launch the product the deal is Feb 1st in Retail stores and Imediately direct from RCA's web site. The model #' are DWD490RE for just the add on receiver and DS4290RE for the entire package (including dish). Well that would be great, but RCA obviously hasn't heard the news. They don't won't to sell it. The support team at Ultimate TV, (who by the way are great to call for updates) are setting around wondering when they're going to start signing people up.

Oh yeah Sony has a product two the SAT-W60. Just go out and try to find out anything about that product. It's like it doesn't exist.

Now I know why Tivo, Sony, and Phillips blew the combo units out 2 weeks before Christmas hoping that they could at least stay in business when Ultimate TV hits the market, but come on Microsoft, if your gonna launch, make sure your hardware distributors are on board. It's hard to be a Windows 2000 customer without a FREAKING PC!!!!
