I thought I would share a recent experience. I switched to Digital Cable and sold my Sony A55 to my dad who had four year old RCA receivers. I attempted to sell the old receivers on eBay and DirecTV attorneys issued an order to eBay that required them to cancel my auction. I sent an e-mail to the attorney but they never responded. So, beware that if you want to upgrade your DSS receiver they don't want you to resell. They have forever lost me as a customer.

I have never heard of people not being allowed to sell sat boxes on ebay. They will NOT allow you to sell just a card since they say on the card that it belongs to NDS Ltd who ever they are. So I am not quite sure how you buy a dish and a card that does not belong to the retailer or even DirecTV? Unless they have extended all DSS sales to people selling Sat boxes with cards now

It sounds like I should find an alternative place to sell like Yahoo. I was selling the receiver, remote, and the card but not the dish. Eric - What lawyers info would you like? These are the DirecTV attorneys that eBay referred me to:

I just upgraded and I was going to sell my old unit to my dad, but they said if I disable the card that it will not be able to be turned on again. I think it's because it's a blue card. They told me I would have to buy a new card at 100 bucks to get the dish to work again.
