When i moved into this house we adopted the standard 1000 dishplayer that they left behind. It has no S-Video or optical port in the back. So here is my question, this receiver is no where near up to par with the rest of my home theater, but I don't know what my options are for upgrading.....
the current equipment is a single LNFB dish(which i think need to be re-calibrated, signal strength is only 93%, is that good?), and the single receiver. Can I just buy a standalone receiver? will a dual-LNFB receiver work with the single LNFB dish? or do I have to buy them together? I am happy with my current programing so i have no need for a dual-LNFB, and only need one receiver in my house.... Anyone know the cost of a new receiver with preferably s-video and maybe optical port?

TIA

HT,
Are you sure it's a 'Dishplayer'?

HT,
I'm assuming you subscribe to Dish Network when you say you have the Model 1000, is this correct?

I think that any receiver will work with a single LNB dish. You will be limited to what you can subscribe to though.

Do you want Dolby Digital? Have you considered one of the new receivers that also records(Tivo based or the Dishplayer)? Is HDTV a concern?

HDTV is too far into the future I think for me to worry about...On my current TV the difference will be minimal if any...DD is a plus but not much programming available yet....So DD,S-Video,Dual LNFB, and IR controlled...
