I can't seem to get the optical output on my 6000 to work with my Dennon Reciever, and I would really like the DD option. Any hints?

What do you mean by not working...does the denon receiver have an optical input for TV/SAT?

Yes the Dennon has the input and the cable is hooked up, I do get sound via the RCA cabels but can not get any sound out of the Optical cable.

unhook your rca cables from your dish you dont need them, all sound from your dish is digital (not all is dd). be sure you have assigned the right output(vcr1,vcr2,dvd, tv/sat,ect..) on your reciever to the dd input in the back. The first dd input is dvd(most of the time)but you should be able to reassign them

Besides what Mark just posted, check the dish receiver. My dish 4700 receiver you need to tell it to output, either PCM or Dolby Digital or PCM/DD
