I recently purchased the new tivo/DTV receiver combo and discovered a rather disturbing problem. The unit's optical output is not compatible with Yamaha receivers. When connected, the audio will be intermittant on both PCM and Dolby Digital. I have verified this with SONY and was informed that they are working on a solution. I will keep you informed via this forum. Otherwise, the unit works fine except for some rather slow guide responses.

From what I've heard, this problem is limited to the older Yamaha receivers, that don't really meet the high end digital spec.

Thanks for the great info, Steve. My Yamaha is a 995 that is about a year old. I find that the digital input works fine for about the first 30 minutes and then the audio will start to jump in and out, increasing with time. The 995 was $1000 when I bought it. Not really low end, I guess. So far its not that big a deal, I switch to analog and everythings OK. I do want a resolution, however. This is too much to spend to have a problem. Thanks again for your info!

Just spoke to SONY and they indicated that they are still working on the problem. They requested I call back in about a month. Hmmmm.
