Hi all,

I got a 4922 Echostar DSS system and a Philips Pronto DSU2000 for Christmas. Since the 4900 is a native UHF reciever this presents a problem.

The information on the IRupfit page states that the 4900 actually already has an IR receiver built in but you must enable it through the system information page by pressing "Info, Theme, Browse" and an "IR" will appear after the remote address.

This is not working in my case, is it possible that one of the software upgrades elimated this feature? Is there any other way to do it?

Thanks,

Scott

I also have an Echostar 4922 and am considering an Sony or Philips universal remote with IR. I looked that the IRupfit page and also found that this does not work. However, the remote for my bedroom Echostar receiver, which is IR only, and all features (guide, info, browse, etc.) work just fine on the 4922. I am assuming that, if nothing else, I can teach the universal remote from one of the two remotes.

Steve,

After posting the first message, I e-mailed Carlton Bale and he told me that the 4900 is IR ready out of the box, no upfitting or enabling required. So I downloaded one of the Echostar 4700 ccfs into my Pronto and it worked like a charm.

Even the Dishnetwork Technicians don't know that this receiver is IR enabled, at least they claim it is not.

Many thanks to Carlton for his help with this.

I know this is somewhat old, but I believe on the 4000 model you had to go through the system to set up IR. But on the 4700 and 4900, both are always on and don't interfere with each other.
