WUTV and WNLO have applied to switch frequencies for Repack.WNLO wants to move back to WIVB tower in Colden NY and use RF 36.WUTV wants to use RF 32 and stay on Grand Island.

Thanks for the update ROB!  I've been waiting to post an update until I got more official info.

According to the FCC:  "The application for rule making has not been filed as of yet."  Sinclair is requesting an "instant" decision.

Note:  this would require permission from I.C.; WBXZ-LP's second request to move to  was made back in May, and I.C. still hasn't answered.

There is chatter that I.C. might hold back on any decision until the steel tariff dispute is over.

Such a change would be worse for those who had difficulty getting WIVB-DT  before -- now they won't be able to get WNLO-DT as well.

From the FCC - Regarding border stations and coordination between Canada and the U.S.:

Any proposal that is within our coordination distance from borders are referred to Canada for their consideration after we have determined domestically the proposal is grantable.  If Canada’s response is unfavorable, we let the applicant know to see if they can resolve the issue with technical amendments. Ultimately if not resolvable the proposal will be dismissed.

As for WBXZ-LP:
We are waiting for Canadian response for the above application.

I not sure ISED Canada can say anything about WNLO and WUTV switching frequencies as it would not effect any new interference as both signals are approved. It makes no sense not to approve WBXZ change to Rf 23.They can stay on RF 17 and make Global Toronto signal useless in Niagara area. Its terrible when politics rules out over common sense.

With the cost of upgrading its transmitter to digital  in July 2020 and the financial problems at Corus, there was some doubt that CHEX-2 Oshawa would survive.

Now with the GM shutdown...

Noticed today CHCH is now appearing as virtual  on my (older) set, but on some (newer) sets using the H.264 codec, it already was.

After a week of flicking back and forth, the problem seems to be fixed.

WBXZ will block Globals signal from Niagara Falls to Fort Erie on Canadian side.WPXJ move to Channel 49 tower would reduce any interference caused by WBXZs 15kw.Channel re assignment did not include low power stations on the US side. This should be managed better.Co- channel on Rf 15 and soon Rf 17 too.

  • They filed an application during the commission’s Special Displacement Window and obtained a construction permit.
  • They were licensed and transmitting for at least nine of the 12 months prior to April 13, 2017, as required by the REA.

Just a reminder we are 19 days away from the commencement of Phase 3 of the Digital Television Transition Schedule.   Between April 13 and June 21, Phase 3 stations will begin testing on their new frequency.  Stations affected in the  Southern Ontario-Western New York-Erie area  are CFTO-DT Toronto on  and CIII-DT Ayr on .  Viewers in Hamilton and vicinity will lose WPXJ-DT's signal as it also broadcasts on the  frequency, until WPXJ-DT moves to  by August 02, 2019.  WBXZ-LP's  signal from Buffalo might be available to viewers in the same region who cannot currently receive it due to CIII-DT Ayr's signal on the same frequency.

If your TV set or converter box has a manual scan feature, you should add  and  to your channel lineup by April 13.

The new filing opportunity is only for applications by displaced stations.  Applications for channel changes by stations that are not displaced will not be accepted; nor will applications filed by new stations for construction permits be accepted.
