Today my Sony Sat A4 was showing bad pixelization on every channel. It wasn't the signal since a SAT A3 in another room was working fine. It seemed as if the processor had jumped into "low resolution" mode or at least "slow speed" processing. How it got this way I have no idea. Anyone with a clue please post it here.
Solution? Unplug it completely from the power source for at least 10 minutes. This effectively reset the receiver and it is working fine now. Simply turning it OFF and back ON did nothing. I unplugged it once but for only a brief few seconds, and the effect was "searching for satellite signal" and no image at all. Keeping it unplugged for the longer time was required to reset it. The receiver apparently has enough retained energy to keep it from resetting with only temporary power outages.
Hope this helps someone. It saved me lots of consternation and frustration.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago. The other problem I have with the A4 is that if we get a brief power outage (or if you pull the plug and try to put it back in right away) the unit freezes and you have to unplug it for 10-15 minutes before it comes back to life.
