I'm afraid there is no way to do it. The lowest technology way that I am aware of transmits a signal on a TV channel, so you would have to have a TV tuner of some type to receive the signal and turn it into video. You would get no high definition at all.

How old is the fireplace? Modern fireplaces are built to look like old ones, but have LOTS of space inside for running wires away from the plasma. I have run back through the wall, using downspout pipe as a wire passage; we have gone up and out of such an area into an attic space. At a real 1930s solid brick fireplace, the plaster was removed to make a channel, or notch, that the wire went into, and we ran down from the ceiling in that. The electrician did a similar thing in another channel.

Power? Don't forget that you have to get power there, too, and that you don't want to run the power and the video right next to one another. But if you can only get the video there wirelessly, then you can only get the power there wirelessly, too, and Nikola Tesla didn't leave us enough notes (actually, the FBI has not released them) to help you. If power can be run, video can be run, too. It's a matter of time and money.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Good luck I have about the same situation. I have a real fire place on first floor, can't get access from second floor and of course can't drop straight down to crawl space from over the mantel. I am thinking about building a false wall and running the wires behind it. I am trying not to mess with the sheet rock anymore than I have to.

I even found that I had to be careful with drilling the holes for the Plasma mount as the top two would have gone straight into steel which I am guessing is part of the flue but not sure as it is hidden behind sheet rock. I am just glad I drilled a test hole with a very small drill after using the stud finder.

Ernie, Keep the Tesla comments coming. That guy was amazing.

Dry wall may be cheap but I have personel experience with less than quality dry wall repair done by a pro.

Than just try and match the paint afterwords. If you are lucky you still have a can of the old paint left and if you are real lucky the wall has not faded.

The pro said he could easily make the paint match - he didn't it came out too yellow.

After having the pro back three times I got tired of hearing his BS.

Don't get me wrong there are great pros out there, but you don't always get the best even when you check around.
