i have the mx-850 remote with 300 base unit.

i have everything in my home theater configured for RF except my TV. It is the Pioneer Elite PRO530 HD, a RPTV. the owner's manual says that the IR sensor is behind the screen.

is there any way to get a flasher from the base unit to the sensor on this type of tv? it is not critical, but like many of you, i want my set-up to be "clean".

thanks for any help.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T TAKE THE PLASTIC HOUSING OFF THE BACK!!! The mirror is attatched to this housing and it WILL fall and shatter into a million pieces.

You could use the TV without RF since you would normally point the remote at the TV anyway. If you want to have the TV RF as well, it's easy to take the screen off of the TV.

Pull the speaker cover off the tv. You'll now see a couple brackets attached to the bottom of the screen with two screws holding them on to the TV casing. Take those screws out, pull the screen bottom away from the TV about 2", and lift up. Once that is done, you'll see the inner screen being held on by three brackets across the top and two on the sides. Take these brackets off and lift the screen out of the bottom holder.

BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS SCREEN, IT IS EASY TO SCRATCH!!! Also, try not to get any fingerprints on the screen. It's best to lift the screen out by the sides.

Once this screen is out you have access to the IR sensor which is placed in between two of the guns. Put your flasher next to the sensor, but don't cover it up since you'll want to have the ability to use the original remote as well. I also tape the flasher in place (or hot glue, or silicone) so it doesn't fall off and have to go through all the steps to put it back on. You have several ventilation holes through the back of the cabinet so getting the wire out is easy.

Put the TV back together and you're ready to go.
