Ive got a customer with Scientific Atlanta 3250HD cable box and I'm using a russound IR routing block. The IR is working fine with all the other equipment but will not work at all with the cable box. Im not using a universal remote, I'm using the actual cable remote and I've tried using the TV remote programmed for the cable box but nothing seems to work. Has anyone ever come across this problem or have any ideas?

russound frequencies for the ir are not high enough or low enough. the easiest thing is to probably change the cable box.
please tip your installer

The cable box IR frequency is probably lower than what the Russound can handle. Up grade the box. Recommend the SFA 8300HD so he can also have a DVR. It seems to me that the processing of the video signal is also better than the 3250HD and the 8000HD on the 8300HD. Well at least in NYC. Response time on the 8300HD is much fast than the 8000HD using it's own remote.

The 8300HD is indeed MUCH more responsive than the 8000HD for everything - from navigating the guide to fast forwarding - and does have a clearer picture (the on-screen stuff is positively blurry on the 8000HD - I had a 8300HD to start with, then went to an 8000HD for a week when it had problems, and then back to an 8300HD so I know what's up!)

Also most 8000HDs don't support the discrete power macro workaround.

Are you shooting into an IR receiver? I recall having to change out numerous table top xantech receivers years ago when my area went digital to dinky-links. Also for Plasma proof IR, The Audioplex STEALTHX40 had to be changed for the STEALTHX4056 models.

I believe the SA box IR is much HIGHER than all other components. This was probably done to keep it away from the thousands of IR controlled devices it had to compete with in customers homes.

Hmm, they seem to be about 59.2kHz, which is higher than normal but not by much.

I admit that I am not 100% certain on the exact frequency. I am basing on my experience with these boxes and solutions to problems in the past.

Is there a way you measured the output or did you check the specs on the manual?
